Specialist Area
Appearance-Related Distress - Support for people with a difference in their appearance.
Carly’s specialist interest is appearance-related distress. This includes anyone experiencing emotional distress due to a visible difference in their appearance. They might be born with or have acquired their difference through illness, injury, surgery or medical treatment. It may be that you are overwhelmed by difficult emotions, memories or suffering with symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress as a result of how you acquired your physical difference. Perhaps you are struggling to adjust to this difference and it is affecting your life (social, family, work, leisure and intimate). It doesn’t matter how big or small the difference is. What matters is how this is affecting you and your quality of life. Please click here for further info and do get in touch if you would like further advice and support.
